CERT Data Science in Cybersecurity Symposium 2018

August 29, 2018 @ 08:45 - 16:00 EDT

Learn about the latest techniques and tools for making sense of your data!

Modern computer networks generate incredible amounts of data. Making sense of this data is simultaneously a critically important task for any company wishing to remain competitive and a near-impossible exercise requiring advanced software and highly trained personnel.

The field of Data Science focuses on creating techniques that uncover hidden patterns in enormous data sets and developing tools that enable this discovery in any dataset and in any environment. Over the past few years, significant advances were made in both techniques and tools, enabling even the most subtle of patterns to be identified using modern computing power.

This year at the CERT Data Science in Cybersecurity Symposium, we focus on the topic of metadata. This focus includes examining how the field of data science has enabled deep insights to be gleaned from what appears to be highly limited data. Additionally, we investigate how cybersecurity data relates to privacy and explore ways to manage that risk. Finally, there will be a tutorial exploring the privacy risks associated with metadata along with discussion of how your organization can safely manage those risks.
