Aomei Backupper security?

I’m not a cybersecurity professional, just an engineer and heavy Windows computer user. There is a nice-looking disk backup system from Aomei which I started installing on my computers when I realized that I might be doing something very stupid. Aomei is a Chinese company, and the Chinese are not known for their data privacy or reluctance to surveil. A disk backup program would be a perfect vector to provide total access to your computer. I can imagine a backup program sending encrypted password files or other sensitive information to China for cracking at their leisure.
Does anybody know if Aomei software has been scrutinized for any back communication channels like this? Can anybody vouch for them?
Thanks very much,
