According to Harry Denley, Director of Security at MyCrypto, a scammer has been tricking people out of their bitcoins by operator fake bitcoin QR code generators. People can scan a QR code and send a bitcoin payment to a specific address. These scam sites have been offering to create QR codes for people if they entered a bitcoin address. Entering the address results in the same QR codes being generated each time. The QR codes are linked to the scammers own address, so when someone makes a payment using the QR code, the bitcoins are sent to the attacker’s account.
