Fake "Windows Update" Installs Cyborg Ransomware
Yesterday, millions of people, after opening their email, were greeted with an email that stated “Install Latest Microsoft Windows Update now! Critical Microsoft Windows Update!” but what most of them didn’t know was that it was a fake email containing ransomware to be installed on your computer. This executable file disguised as a .jpg file not only led to ransomware but also it’s builder which could be used to create variants. Experts are currently trying to figure out who created the file but have yet to find the culprit. While many people were quickly fooled and downloaded the infected file onto their computer there were also many people who realized that it wasn’t really a windows update and reported it to the officials.
