During this crisis with the coronavirus outbreak, hackers are taking advantage of the vulnerable individuals to obtain personal information. Police have stated a warning about this scam about individuals going door to door to test for COVID-19 in residents. By doing so, they are looking to gain entrance into the homes. As WHO is aware, those that are impersonating as members of this organization are sending phishing emails. These suspicious emails ask for the recipient to provide personal information such as any usernames or passwords, provides a link that may be malicious, include a malicious attachment and then uses these tactics as a gateway to install any malware to steal any sensitive information on the device. This article also provides suggestions on preventing phishing. Ways to prevent Phishing attacks would be to verify the link is a good source, verify who the sender is, think twice before provide any sensitive information to anyone, especially over email or the phone, and then report the email if you suspect any criminal activity.
