The Hackensack Meridian Health hospital network was infected by a rnasomware attack in early December, causing a shutdown of 17 urgent care facilities as well as hospitals and nursing homes. An undisclosed amount was paid to the threat actors to retrieve the locked data.
Two plaintiffs have filed a class action lawsuit claiming that Hackensack Meridian Health used reckless internet policies that compromised patient data. Among the damages sought in the lawsuit is annual data security audits.
