In January 2020, there was an incent that occurred regarding a security flaw that exposed over 1.2 million passengers from Spicejet. Spicejet is an affordable and one of the largest Indian airlines, which could hurt them in the long run if this made their passengers not have trust in their systems. The vulnerable details about these passengers that were exposed were such as their name, phone number, email address, and date of birth. Although there was no mention of social security numbers being public, this is still a huge deal as any information that ends up in the wrong hands can become critical to that individual. The hackers had their actions described as “ethical hacking”, however, I disagree. The mistakes the company made was having an easy password that was very guessable as well as having the backup database unencrypted.
