Last week the police in Hallandale Beach in South Florida issued a search warrant for anything that was recorded by two devices in the condo at the time. Both an Amazon Echo and Amazon Echo Dot were found in the condo. A woman who was arguing with her boyfriend was killed back in July. Police think that they can use these two devices to their benefit. When the police showed up to the condo they found Galva in one of the bedrooms. She was bleeding to death due to a stab wound to the chest. Crespo (The boyfriend) claims that she had been drinking and he tried to kick her out of the bedroom but she resisted and grabbed the spear. He then states that he kept pulling and turned around when he heard a snap. This was when the spear impaled her. One of Galva’s friends was in the condo at the time and told police that she’d heard arguing coming from the bedroom but she didn’t understand what they were fighting about. This is not the first time that police have searched through Echo recording to help solve crimes. The murder suspect pleaded not guilty at court. Amazon spokesman Leigh Nakanishi told the news outlet that Echo devices only record short bursts of speech.
