It is known that the United States and Russia do not share a very friendly relationship due to events in the past and other factors. According to USNEWS, in February, the United States “indicted 13 Russians for attempting to interfere with the 2016 election”. On top of that, Russia was exposed by the United States and Britain for the Ransomware cyberattack: NotPetya, against Ukraine. Also, in recent years, seven Iranian Nationals and several Chinese hackers were indicted for embedding code on a computer that controls a dam, and stealing from U.S. companies, respectively. For how often we are being targeted by hackers in opposing countries, especially tampering with sensitive information such as the 2016 election, it is likely a cyber-war is certain in the near future.
