This past Sunday morning, Universal Health services, one of the largest healthcare systems in the U.S., was the victim of a ransomware attack. Computers and phone systems became locked at several UHS locations, including Florida and California. The computer screens displayed text referencing the “shadow universe,” which is related to the Ryuk ransomware. This ransomware is linked to the Russian cybercrime group, Wizard Spider. The impact of this attack is unknown at this time.
