Enhance cybersecurity awareness and survivability for DoD, industry partners, and academia in the face of the ever-increasing threat of cyber attacks. Cybersecurity (CS) includes managing risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information and the systems and processes used for those purposes, including analog and physical form. CS includes information availability, identification and authentication, confidentiality, integrity, and non-repudiation as well as the economic considerations with respect to selection of CS techniques, CS processes, and industry trends.
"Ransomware: Cyber-insurance payouts are adding to the problem, experts warn"

The article talks about how paying for ransomed data is actually worse for the industry. It does make a lot of sense, because if a company pays, it signals the perpetrators that this company is willing to pay, and they are bound to attack it again, especially if the victim has some sort of cyber-insurance. Efforts should be put more on actually securing stuff so this cases can be minimized, and make frequent back ups just for the chance it happens.
Paying ransoms is only a short-term solution. Since hackers are getting high (*high*) amounts of money holding companies’ data hostage behind encryption, they are only incentivized not only to keep doing so, but to become better at performing these attacks, increasing the frequency of the problem and making it worse.
