Philips Hue light bulbs recently released a firmware update that protects against hackers. Prior to this update, studies showed that these bulbs, when connected to the internet, could be hacked from outside of the building that the bulbs are located. The hack involves taking advantage of protocols, overflowing the control bridge, and installing malware that can effect any light bulb and take down a home or business network.
