Google and Microsoft have confirmed that there has been a zero-day vulnerability that attackers are now targeting. The vulnerability allows attackers to escalate privileges once they have access to a machine.

  Is there anything that can protect a system from Zero day other than immediate patching when the vulnerability has been addressed by the OEM?

  VMware updated their security to help prevent zero-day bug. It sent out workaround instructions to help mitigate the affected system. They are still trying to update their system to help better their cyber attacks on zero-day bug.

CSIAC Report - Smart Cities, Smart Bases and Secure Cloud Architecture for Resiliency by Design

Integration of Smart City Technologies to create Smart Bases for DoD will require due diligence with respect to the security of the data produced by Internet of Things (IOT) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIOT).
