Looks like this is the second major attack this year and it looks a lot like the one that hit in July. The Gouverneur said they didn’t say the ransom though and that there was no significant data loss.
Hopefully, they can start patching the holes in their system so they become less of an easy target for attackers.
Unfortunately, there were a few medical facilities affected by ransomware recently. The Alabama DHC ended up paying the ransom and luckily were able to keep up care for their current patients. It’s truly unfortunate to hear that Wood Ranch Medical has to close down.
It’s pretty crazy, they would stuff cookies and steal the commissions of products users would purchase. According to this article there were 1.6 million users and the extensions potentially made millions per month with this scam.
