One of the goals of the DoD Net Centric vision is to provide visibility into the Modeling & Simulation (M&S) resources across the DoD enterprise. In order to manage and employ M&S capabilities effectively, senior leaders and managers must have visibility into the DoD’s M&S portfolio; organizations supported by M&S need visibility into the tools, data, and services that meet their requirements; and M&S developers need access to what has already been created in order to capitalize on existing investments.
The Defense M&S Catalog was established by Defense Modeling & Simulation Coordination Office to support the visibility component of the net centric data strategy and to provide an avenue for M&S organizations to make resources available for reuse. The Catalog is a collection point for enterprise discovery and actively seeks contribution of resources from M&S organizations. The Enterprise Metacard Builder Resource (EMBR) tool complements the Catalog and was developed to offer organizations local control and management of their M&S assets which can then be published to the Defense M&S Catalog. This Catalog also supports direct system-to-system publishing from organizations who already maintain their own data repository. An overview of the Defense M&S Catalog will be presented along with the EMBR main search features and functions.

This question was asked during the webinar:
Where are the folders for the M&S Catalog stored? Are they stored in the cloud?
This response was given during the webinar:
The folders that are part of the M&S Product Catalog are part of the IBM Watson product interface and are stored in a backend database per user account that is established allowing users to create an infinite number of folders as well as to tag any of the “metacards” in your search results to those folders.
This question was asked during the webinar:
How do you test he EMBR user interface?
This response was given during the webinar:
Anyone with the appropriate PKI certificate can register to create an account and use everything Pauline demonstrated in the webinar.
This question was asked during the webinar:
Are there plans to add NASA to the M&S Catalog?
This response was given during the webinar:
A lot of access is based on requests from organizations, so at this time we have not received a request. Requests are fielded by DMSCO, they would evaluate the use/need and we would extend as part of the federal bridge program to include the NASA approved PKI certificate.
This question was asked during the webinar:
As a private consultant, do you need to have an active contract with client working on a DoD contract in order to gain access to the M&S Catalog and EMBR tool?
This response was given during the webinar:
Short answer, yes. DoD CAC and PIV by the 5 listed federal agencies are the accepted certificates by the M&S Catalog and EMBR.
